How AmstelFysio handles privacy

AmstelFysio is more than a physical therapist for athletes and non-athletes in Amsterdam and the surrounding area. To provide good care we process personal data so that our services can be used. We process ordinary personal data (e.g. name and address details) and special personal data (medical data).

We consider it of great importance that personal data is handled carefully. Personal data is therefore carefully processed and secured by us.

Through our website, we offer a variety of services to customers and non-customers. In doing so, we process ordinary personal data. In some cases, we cooperate with other organizations or companies in the process.

We abide by the requirements of privacy laws. This means, for example, that we:

  • clearly state the purposes for which we process personal data. We do that through this privacy statement;
  • Limit the collection of personal data to only those personal data necessary for the purpose for which they are processed;
  • ask you first for consent to work your personal data in cases where your consent is required and that the right exists to withdraw it at any time;

Use of personal data

When using our services and website, you leave certain data with us or we process data. That may be personal data. Below is an overview of the personal data we process. It depends on which services you choose to use.

Ordinary personal data

  • Details of what date and time you wish to make an appointment
  • Information you enter yourself in an open field in the contact form.

  • Technical measurement data of the equipment


Special personal data

As a physiotherapist, we process patient records (Electronic Patient Dossier (EPD)) and can submit claims to insurers for patients under treatment at AmstelFysio. For this we process personal data from the health care policy. For all other services AmstelFysio offers we do not process any special personal data.

Why we process personal data

We process the above data for one or more of the following purposes (depending in part on which services you use):

  • Providing physical therapy treatment;
  • Being able to contact your primary care physician if necessary (only with your permission);
  • Informing you about our services and sharing blogs and other information related expressions;
  • Drafting and implementing the treatment plan customized for you;
  • To send you personalized newsletters;
  • To be able to call you if necessary, such as to make or reschedule an appointment;
  • Being able to submit a claim to your health insurance company;
  • To process your application;
  • To process your response to our website forms;
  • To answer your questions or address your complaints via social media, email, by mail or by phone;
  • To improve our website.


Sharing personal data with third parties

AmstelFysio does not sell personal data to third parties. Personal data will only be provided if this is necessary for the execution of the agreement or to meet legal obligations. With companies that process your data on our behalf, we have a data protection agreement to ensure the same security and confidentiality as we treat personal data. We also agree herein that your data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer needed.

Furthermore, we will not provide the data you provide to other parties unless required or permitted by law. For example, it is possible that the police may request data from us as part of an investigation. In that case, we are legally obliged to hand over this data.

Safeguards and preservation

We take appropriate security measures to limit misuse of and unauthorized access to your personal data. For example, we ensure that only the necessary persons have access to the data, that access to the data is protected and that our security measures are checked regularly.

We do not keep data longer than necessary. That is, we keep the data as long as necessary to provide the service you have requested. Exceptions to this are data that we must keep longer because the law requires us to do so. For example, we have to keep medical data for 15 years.

We may change this privacy statement from time to time. Changes will be published on our website. We never use your data for other purposes without permission.

It is therefore advisable to consult this privacy statement regularly so that you are aware of these changes.

Accessing and changing your data

You have the right to view, correct or delete personal data. You can request this at To prevent misuse, we ask you to adequately identify yourself by sending a copy of a valid ID. Do not forget to mask your BSN and passport photo on the copy. You can use the KopieID app for this.

AmstelFysio will respond to your request as soon as possible, but no later than four weeks.

Of course we are happy to help you if you have complaints about the processing of your personal data. Should you still not work it out with us, you also have the right under privacy law to file a complaint with the privacy regulator, the Authority for Personal Data.
